(KP) Maae Varaae rushed to her house. When she got there Gangi’s son spoke: "Mother! The Guests just left but said that they will be returning soon."

Varaae: Did he came or not?

Son (looking at mother): Who mom?

Mehri (shying): Son, Maae Varaae’s husband.

Son: Mother Varaae’s husband… Mehma Chaudri?

Mehri (scolding): You are not supposed to take names of elders!

Son (with hesitation): Not yet mother! Chaudri Ji hasn’t come yet.

Varaae: Did the guests say something or did they leave without saying anything?

Son: For a while they got off their horses and waited for you but you didn’t show up. Then they said that they are going to ‘Tup-e-aaney’ (place of meditation) to look for you. One man amongst them told them that you go there everyday to sweep the place and meditate. Then they left and told me: "Child, if Chaudri comes tell him that we will be returning soon."

After hearing this, Maae Varaae went inside and laid down cots in the patio and covered them with fresh sheets. Besides the cots she placed some stools and then she chilled some milk and got some glasses washed. She told Gangi to start preparing food. Then she took a seat on a small stool and started paath. After some time the guests returned. They tied their horses outside and walked in. Maae Varaae stood up while putting a piece of cloth around her neck. She bent her neck and said "Welcome my Guroo’s beloveds. You are most welcome! I am a sacrifice to the path on which you have walked to come here. Your coming is most blissful. Please feel welcomed."

Saedo (speaking with sorrow): "We have come here in search (of Guroo Ji) and we beg for the blessings of having his sight."

Varaae: Guroo’s beloved are just like Guroo himself. To beg is the work of beggars such as myself. Please come in. You have bestowed this beggar with your sight. This is the most precious blessing.

Everyone moved forward.

Varaae: Please have a seat (pointing towards the cots).

But those men didn’t sit down on the cots even after Varaae insisted, instead they stepped down to a take a seat on the mats on the floor but before they could sit, Varaae hurried up to cover the mats with a sheet.

Baba Buddha: Guroo Nanak’s blessed lady! Please tell us of Guroo Nanak’s whereabouts.

Varaae (joining her hands together): You all sent him to Sachkhand with your own hands.

Baba Buddha: That is true, he did go to Sachkhand, but he also stayed here, in the heart of Guroo Angad but we are not able to see him. We beg the one who knows of his whereabouts to guide us.

O Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice to the one who beholds, and inspires others to behold Him. ||4||12|| (Sri Raag M.1)

Varaae stayed silent.

Saedo: Maae! It has been about 5-6 months since Guroo Baba (Nanak) turned himself into Guroo Angad but we haven’t been able to get his darshan. Sangat tried to search and so did we, but all in vain. Now we have started to look (for Guroo Ji) with Baba Buddha, for we might be able to get some clues. The value of having his darshan is precious.

Varaae stayed silent.

Sadharan: Maae! Some beloveds have searched all over Sanghar, here and Matte Di Saran, even Hari Ke (Pattan), Lahore, Talwandi and Sultanpur. Sikhs have tried looking everywhere. At the end we went to the highest Gursikh, Gurmukh Pyare, Guroo Nanak’s blessed - Bhai Buddha Ji, and requested him to help the sangat since he has the knowledge of past, present and future. We said, "You are the one who put the mark of Gurooship on the forehead of the one who Guroo Nanak found, so please locate us that found one (Guroo Angad Ji) now." So he took off after hearing the requests of Sangat. We had gone to Sanghar and Mata [Khivi] Ji told us that he is residing someplace quietly, absorbed in Guroo Nanak’s love but she doesn’t know the whereabouts. She asked Guroo Sahib not to tell her where he was going. She pleaded, "If I would know where you are then what would I answer to the Sangat?" Mata Ji is in sorrow but she is staying strong in following Guroo Ji’s will. She says that it is Guroo Ji’s responsibility to take care of the Sangat and he will do so. Right now his beloveds should stay attached to him in His loving remembrance.

Varaae: Mata Ji is right, she is the wife of Guroo Sahib and she is adopting Guroo Ji’s qualities upon herself. (Putting hands together) Blessed is Mata Khivi, I feel inhibited to open my mouth. You are all image of Guroo Ji; ones who are blessed to chant his name are Guroo roop, right? Mata Ji’s advice is very wise, isn’t it imprudent to disrupt Guroo Sahib when he willingly isolated himself.

Baba Buddha: Guroo Nanak was also sitting imbued in the love of his Beloved in Sachkhand when Earth cried for help and Guroo Nanak came to the Earth which was totally weighed with sins. To make requests is not going against his will. A child does not know of his mother’s nature but she always comes and helps her child when he cries.

Varaae (taking a deep breath): You are correct Buddha Ji.

Baba: So is there any advice for the Sangat which is crying for their mother? Please do something to find Guroo Ji. Just like we came from such a far place please do something as well.

Varaae: Sangat’s cries are getting to Guroo Ji just like he received cries from the Earth. Our Beloved will come, care, love and bless us as this is Guroo Ji’s reputation. A rain bird’s cries symbolize that rain is about to come.

Baba: You are correct Maae. But now Sangat’s pain has crossed the limits. This is the time for Guroo Ji to return. You are amongst the Sangat, share some pain with it. If you know of Guroo Ji then please tell us. My heart has faith upon you, show the path to it. My heart made my feet to walk towards your door.

Varaae stayed silent.

Baba: Maae! Please do not stay silent, say something.

Varaae: You are my elder and like my father, what path can I show you? My heart gradually says that this is how a Sikh’s faith should be like:

rsnw rhy rMg ivc;

mnUAW rhy mMg ivc;

ipAwr rhy aumMg ivc,

guru AMg sMg hY,

rhy AMg sMg auh,

hoiegw idAwl qW deygw bulwieky[

One’s tongue should stay imbued while chanting his name;

And the heart should always long for him;

And my love should always have passion for him,

May Guroo be with life and limb,

May life and limb be with Guroo,

When he becomes merciful he will call upon us.

Baba (thinking and nodding his head): Maae! Guroo has blessed you with so much, was that what made Guroo to have mercy upon you?

Varaae: Everyone got touched with the alchemic approach of Guroo Ji, which imbued them. What power does iron or tin have to shine like Gold?

Baba: Dear Ones! Did you understand? Maae knows but she does not have the permission to tell us. To lie is not the merit of being a Sikh and if she tells us the truth it will make her break Guroo Ji’s instructions. Let’s get up! Guroo Nanak was in the mood of mercy when he told me, "I will never stay hidden from you"; now let’s go look for the one who blessed me with this assertion. One who said that he will never stay hidden from me will not stay hidden anymore. Guroo Nanak’s fragrance is in this house so we don’t have to go search for him anyplace else.

Everyone got up: Baba Buddha Ji looked in every room of the mansion. He took off one room’s plaster with his own hands and found a door underneath it which would leave one to the patio. Then Baba took off all the sealing with his own hands and unlocked it. As he opened the door, light entered the room. On a small stage he saw Guroo Ji sitting in deep meditation.

Baba Buddha who was bestowed by Guroo Nanak’s blessing that he will never stay away from him saw Guroo Ji. Ajeeta, Sadharan, Saedo and every beloved of Guroo Ji who were standing behind Baba Buddha Ji also got Guroo Ji’s darshan. They all saw Guroo Nanak sitting in the heart of Guroo Angad and that Guroo Angad was sitting in deep contemplation in Guroo Nanak’s roop. Silently Mehma Chaudry, Varaae’s husband and Guroo’s beloved Sikh who had gone, came back after finding that the guests had returned. He got home right on the time when the door was opened.
