A recent video has surfaced of Balbir Singh Seechwala, head of Nirmalkuteya Seechwal and Ek Oangkar Charitable Trust Seechwal, in which his followers are worshipping him like a guru.
Even more disturbing, the following Gurbani verses (attributed to performing seva of Guru Sahib) are being continually played on the video soundtrack:
From the video it is clear that neither Seechwal nor his followers are practicing members of the Sikh faith and tenants. The blatant misuse of Gurbani by these miscreants needs to be brought to the attention of Sikh institutions that routinely honor Seechwal for his environmental "sewa", especially inside the Sikh community.
If Seechwal is a Sikh, then there are certain religious norms he needs to follow. How can he be called a Sikh if he is acting like a Guru? How different is this from the psuedo-Nirankaris, the Radhaswamis, and the Naamdharis?
Nirmalas claim to trace their origins back to Guru Gobind Singh Ji's time when Guru Sahib sent five Sikhs to Benares for comparative religious studies.
It is well known that the five Sikhs (Ganda Singh, Karm Singh, Sena Singh, Vir Singh and Ram Singh) remained steadfast in the code of conduct of the Khalsa, while carrying out their comparative studies of other religious orders.
There is not a shred of evidence that Guru Gobind Singh Ji created any new sect (samperdai) within the Sikh Panth called Nirmalas or any separate code of conduct.
The word Nirmala means pious, pure, devoid of the filth or ego, akin to the word Khalsa and is used throughout Gurbani do describe the pious nature of Gursikhs who are imbued in His Divine Name
Nirmalay: GurSikhs - those who are immaculate.
Nirmal Panth : Khalsa Panth : Sikh Panth
Yet, modern Sanatan oriented Nirmala sects who claim to part of the Sikh Panth, openly perform Hindu rituals and rites that are blatantly contrary to Gurmat practices and the Sikh Code of Conduct.
Moreover, these pseudo-Sikh sects are routinely promoted by well-known Sant Samaj Babas, who themselves are byproducts of Nirmala associated deras.
As Nirmalas place their dera heads on a pedestal, give them guru like reverence, most Sant Samaj Babas receive the same respect for their respective followers.
These Brahmanical practices are a direct challenge to the Sikh-Guru relationship in Gurmat, and undermine the authority of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
This is contrary to the mission of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and His Khalsa Panth.
