Jalandar, Punjab (KP) - The Dal Khalsa, after hearing DGP S.S Virk acknowledge the use of ‘police cats’, is now demanding the list of the 300 persons be presented to them under the Right to Information Act.
“Since former DGP K.P.S. Gill has already admitted that there was a war like situation in 80s and that since the Punjab DGP Virk has also admitted that there were 300 counter-insurgents active at that time, so it means that the Punjab Police has committed war crimes. As they have committed war crimes, we will not only approach the UN and international human rights organizations for an exhaustive probe, but also seek a list of those 300 counter-insurgents from the Punjab Police under provisions of the Right to Information Act,” stated Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh along with president and vice-president Harcharanjit Dhami and Jaspal Dhillon.
The party also intends to ask for the list of some 41,000 mentioned by the notorious late Chief Minister Beant “Singh”, who were offered bounties in their assistance as counter-insurgents during the intense years of the Sikh struggle.
To address the issue the Dal Khalsa is panning to file a PIL, in addition to contacting Sikh NGO’s in other countries. It is also possible that the Dal would bring the issue of the cats the war crimes committed by them to the international human rights meeting taking place in Geneva during March.
Furthermore, the Dal Khalsa plans to take out a march from the Akal Takhat to Anandpur Sahib during March 12th in order to enlighten fellow Sikhs about the issues at hand.
