Amritsar Sahib (KP) - News and shock of the desecration of multiple Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Haryana and Rajasthan continues to reverberate through the Sikh community in Punjab and the neighboring states.
According to press reports, the Rajathan Police recently overtook the Dera Suraj Muni in the village of Peelia, Ganganagar and confiscated four Saroops Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’s. These same Saroops were later discovered to have been disposed in a nearby rivulet by the Police. The local sangat was able to retrieve the Holy saroops that had been disposed by the miscreants.
Sangat gathered in large numbers in protest of the mischievous actions of the Police, and demanded strict action be taken against those who desecrated the Holy Saroops. The Rajasthan Government and the Police have not publicly made any comments in regards to this incident.
Rajasthan-Haryana Connection
Shockingly, four more Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Ji were also discovered in a water canal near the village of TejaKherra, Haryana. The Saroops were found in a sack that was spotted floating in the canal. Incidentally, the sack contained documents and phone numbers of the same Suraj Muni Dera in Rathasthan from where four others saroops had been recently taken and desecrated.
The local sevadars who retrieved these particular Saroops, they were stunned to discover that the culprits had also slashed many of the Angs and torn up the binding on some of the Saroops before disposing them in the water canal.
Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Balwant Singh Nandgarh accused the Rathasthani police of being involved in both of these incidents of desecration, and stated that a five member fact finding committee from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib would travel to Rajasthan and Haryana to look into both of these incidents.
Giani Nandgarh stated that he will be meeting with Sikh community in Rajasthan and Haryana to chalk out a program so the perpetrators of these heinous crimes could be brought to justice.
