INDORE, MADHYA PARDES (KP) - Sikh residents from the central Indian state of Madhya Pardes (MP) sent a memorandum to Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding the direct interference by non-Sikhs, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the management of various historic Sikh shrines associated with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji in MP’s largest city of Indore.
The memorandum raised concerns by the Sangat that non-Sikhs and non-keshadhari Punjabis were being recruited to vote in the upcoming elections of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Indore which manages the local historical Sikh Gurdwara Sahibs.
Over the past few years various non-Sikh rituals have been practiced on the Gurdwara premises in efforts to win over the ruling BJP, RSS, Congress (I) politicians who have inter-twined business relations with individuals involved in the management of these historic sites.
According to the memorandum, current management of Sri Singh Sabha Indore, including president - Gurdeep Singh Bhatia, vice president - Amarjit Singh Bagga, general secretary - Jasbir Singh Gandhi, and spokesperson - Raghubir Singh Khanuja, have been unilaterally controlling this institution since 2005 and are unwilling to relinquish their power of these sacred Sikh shrines.
The renowned Gurdwara Imli Sahib, Gurdwara Baoli Sahib, Gurdwara Onkareshwar Sahib and several other Gurdwara Sahibs that were constructed on the sacred sites where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji had stayed during his travels through Indore are now managed by the Sri Guru Singh Sabha of Indore.
According to the 70 year old constitution of the Sri Guru Singh Sabha, only “Sabat Surat Sikhs” living within Indore Municipality can be eligible voter or an applicant for the Singh Sabha elections. Additionally anyone chosen to server on Sri Guru Singh Sabha must be an Amritdhari (baptised) Sikh.
According to the memorandum even the appointed election commissioner, Paramjit Chhabrra is not a “Sabat Surat Sikh” as he trims his beard and is a patit (apostate). Furthermore, Sindhis and non-Sikh Punjabis are being recruited as voters by the current management that would guarantee the monopoly of managing these Gurdwara Sahibs for the long term.

The memorandum requests that Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s involvement so anti-Panthic elements do not interfere in internal Sikh affairs and that new management sevadars are chosen according to Sri Guru Singh Sabha constitutions and Sikh norms.

ਇਸ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੇਠ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਬੇਨਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਜੀ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪੰਥ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੜਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ:-
੧. ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਭਾ ਇੰਦੌਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਕਮੀਸ਼ਨਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਯੁਕਤੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਲੋਂ, ਪੰਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ।
੨. ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਮੁੱਖ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਕਮੀਸ਼ਨਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਪਰਸਤੀ ਹੇਠ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਦੋਨੋ ਧੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਸਬ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਅਫਸਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਮੁੱਚੀ ਵੋਟਰ ਸੂਚੀ ਦੀ ਪੜਚੋਲ ਕਰੇ। ਉਪਰੰਤ ਸੁਧਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਵੋਟਰ ਸੂਚੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਹੀ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ। ਐਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਵੇਂ ੧੫-੨੦ ਦਿਨ ਜਾਂ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਵੀ ਲਗ ਜਾਵੇ। ਜੋ ਵੀ ਸਮਾਂ ਲਗੇ ਉਹ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।
੩. ਵੋਟਰ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਗੈਰ ਸਿੱਖ/ਪਤਿਤ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।
੪. ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਮੀਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਸਬ- ਅਫਸਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਪਰਸਤੀ ਹੇਠ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਤੀ, ਸਥਾਨ, ਵੋਟਰ ਸੂਚੀ, ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰਵਾ ਕੇ ਯੋਗ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਰਜ ਸੌਂਪ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਤਾ ਕਰਨ।
Although elections in Gurdwara management are contrary to Gurmat traditions, yet most central Sikh institutions, such the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Sri Guru Singh Sabhas, and Khalsa Diwans have now become a battle ground where corrupt politicians and wealthy individuals routinely fight for the control of the free flow of money and power and often turning a blind eye to the Sikh principles these institutions were based upon.
Sadly, similar issues are also occurring with the management of Gurdwaras in western countries.

ਇੰਦੌਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਜੂਦਾ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸੱਤ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਗà©à¨°à¨¦à©à¨†à¨°à©‡ ਤੇ ਕਬਜਾ ਜਮਾ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਲੋਕ à¨à¨¥à©‡ ਅੰਮà©à¨°à¨¿à¨¤à¨§à¨¾à¨°à©€ ਹੋ ਕਰ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਕਬਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਡà©à©±à¨¬à©‡ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਨੇ, ਇਨà©à¨¹à¨¾ ਦਾ ਮà©à¨–ੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਕà©à¨› ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਜ਼ਮੀਨਾ ਦੇ ਘੋਟਾਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਜੇਲà©à¨¹à¨¾à¨‚ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਆਠਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਸਾਲ ਫ਼ਰਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਨà©à¨¹à¨¾à¨‚ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ à¨à¨®.ਬੀ. ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਸਕੂਲ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਕਬਜਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਜੀ। ਇਨà©à¨¹à¨¾à¨‚ ਦੀ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਹਰਕਤਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੇ ਸਟੇਡੀਅਮ ਦੀ ਦਕਾਨਾ ਦਾ ਕਬਜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਾਥ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੀ। ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਨà©à¨¹à¨¾à¨‚ ਨੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਪਰੋਗਰਾਮੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਅਨà©à¨¸à¨¾à¨° ਦੂਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਇਨà©à¨¹à¨¾à¨‚ ਦੀ ਜਗà©à¨¹à¨¾ ਤੇ ਚੋਣ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਨਾ ਆ ਸਕਣ à¨à¨¸ ਤਰà©à¨¹à¨¾à¨‚ ਦੀ ਵਯਵਸਥਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਜੀ। ਇਲੈੱਕਸ਼ਨ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਹਿਤ ਮਰਿਆਦਾ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੀ। ਉਹ ਇਨà©à¨¹à¨¾à¨‚ ਦਾ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ à¨à¨¥à©‡ ਨਿਰ-ਵਿਰੋਧ ਚੋਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੈਂ ਜੀ। ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾ ਦੀ ਪà©à¨•à¨¾à¨° ਸà©à¨£ ਕੇ ਉਚਿਤ à¨à©±à¨•à¨¶à¨¨ ਲੈ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਬੇਇਜ਼ਤੀ ਰੋਕੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਜੀ।
