New Delhi - Ignoring leniency requests of Sikh organizations and human rights activists worldwide, including Amnesty International, the President of India rejected the mercy petition of Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar. The news of the rejection has sent shock and dismay throughout the Sikh community.
Charges against Bhai Davinder Singh Bhullar were framed by Indian Authorities under the controvercial and now defunct TADA laws of the 1980s and 1990s for an alleged attack on Youth Congress leader Maninder Bitta on September 11, 1993.
Professor Bhullar, a graduate in electrical engineering from Guru Nanak Engineering College, Ludhiana, served as professor in different technical colleges of Punjab. Like many Sikh youth facing harassment from the Punjab Police, he had managed to escape to Germany in December, 1994, when his father disappeared while in the police custody.
His application for political asylum was rejected in 1995 and he was deported to India. Though the immigration authorities sent him to India, a German court overruled the decision of the lower court in connection with declining political asylum to him when he came back to India. He has been currently incarcerated in the high security Tihar Jail.
Professor Bhullar was originally sentenced to death on Aug 25, 2001 and the Supreme Court of India had dismissed his appeal previously, despite the fact that the presiding judge at the Supreme Court submitted a dissenting opinion, pleading for an acquittal, citing a lack of corroborative evidence for Professor Singh Bhullar's "confession" which was forced upon him using torture.
Despite being a signatory to the Convention Against Torture, it is well known that torture remains a pervasive and daily practice in every one of India's 25 states, as acknowledged by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the American State Department.
While he was waiting for the death sentence, Professor Bhullar was convicted of other charges by the Punjab Police. However on the 1 December 2006 in the Chandigarh and Haryana High Court the judge acquitted Professor Bhullar on the basis of lack of evidence. Sh R.S. Baswana Addional Sessions Judge held that their was no evidence on file to link the accused with the other alleged crimes and despite the fact that the prosecution had 15 years to gather evidence against Mr Bhullar, they were unable to produce evidence linking Mr Bhullar to the case against him.
Indian Govt. is one of the worst govt. in the world and especially these politicians, they think they can rule the country and do what they want??
If this govt. can give punishments to someone who killed one bad person, then WHY THE HELL this govt. do not see the persons who are responsible for killing 1000's of innocent Aikhs in 1984????
Where are human rights officers here? Where is America? UK? and other countries who claim to be making this world a safer place for everyone to live??

Time to time Indian Government always shows it's true colors and proved many times that SIKHS are SLAVES in this country and they can do anything with them.But still SIKHS are not ready to open there eyes and ears and start fighting for their homeland for there Soverienty .All Sikhs should come forward this time otherwise there is alot behind curtain stored for them.

We must document this case and others fully and publish them. It is because we do not document them - that we have so many stories and versions -not all Sikhs are armed with FACTS to fight against injustice.
Sikhs must get above the Brahmanic Traditions that Guru Nanak discarded - and follow the Truth route!
The justice will be done when the majority of Indians know the Truth - the people in control of India are fooling the mass of Indians - they will fall like the Arab leaders only if Sikhs become Khalsas and behave like Guru Gobind Singh intended!!
Brothers and sisters,we the Indians were asking for mercy to number of Indians involved in the murder of one Pakistani in one of the Arab country.
It is very shameful on the part of our own Madam President, that the mercy petition of Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, though Mr Bitta is surviving has been rejected.
I feel that the minds of Indians are dual.My appeal to the whole humanity is that the voice should be raised to save the life of Professor Singh.
1. the present day Sikhs seem to have become like Pigeons, in the "Cat And Pigeon" story....by just going about their own business think that there is no danger to them ( pigeon closes his eyes, so he can’t see the approaching cat who is actually going to and does, eat up the pigeon ) they always believe the flowery language of the Racist and Communal Indian Govt. i.e. the Advisors to the Govt., the Bureaucrats, and the Politicians, and go on repeating same mistakes again and again!!
2. The "Sikhs" seem to have lost the basic principle of COHESSION amongst the community.... are they aping other communities and becoming SELFISH ( because they seem to think ... OH ... THIS IS NOT DIRECTED AT ME SO WHY SHOULD I GET INVOLVED AND WASTE MY TIME...I should use this time to make more MONEY.)
3. This is the actual result of DETERIORATION AND DILUTION OF "SIKHI" WITHIN THE SIKHS -.... something that the JEALOUS LEADERS ETC. have been trying to do for a long long time and now they are succeeding.
By being the latest innnocent Sikh to be killed by the Ind. Govt. He carries the spirit of all the young Sikh shaheeds through the sustained 3 decades holocaust of the 70s 80s and 90s.
I'm sure Prof Bhullar's heart bleeds everyday for all his shaheed brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. The whole Sikh disapora stands with Davinderpal Singh. We must pray together for the strength needed to realize our own dignity which can only come from freedom. Freedom from a nation that lacks any legitamcy to rule and reminds us all of this when it institutionalizes the conviction and execution of innocent people.

India's own citizens are at risk from this contraction in the Indian judiciary.
If President Patil can commute evidenced killers as she did recently ie. commute their death penalty, in a split verdict like this, with nothing but confessional torture ridden evidence, it is appalling that the death penalty hasn't been commuted.
What came of the MP who had recently visited India, with specific task of taking up this case with Indian Government officials. Not heard anything since.
